Knowledge is pretty similar to a previous topic “discipline” when it comes to team collaboration. “Discipline” can be explained as the role of a member of the team, while “knowledge” is the information that’s stored in the person’s mind regarding the role and what they do. In a team project, each member has their own knowledge regarding the work they’re doing. This knowledge or theirs comes from their own experience as they live life. Let’s take for example, “Wikipedia – The Free Encyclopedia”, the site is not written by just one person, but their articles come from many peoples knowledge around the world. Anyone in this world is given the permission to edit articles and add articles, in other words adding their knowledge into the site.
“Wikipedia is an encyclopedia collaboratively written by many of its readers. It is a special type of website, called a wiki, that makes collaboration easy. Many people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making thousands of changes an hour, all of which are recorded on article histories and recent changes.”[1]
On the other hand, it is also related to “record”, similar to what’s been said above, it is what someone has recorded into their mind throughout their life. The information is absorbed by the person which can be later used.
Searching through the online dictionary for the word “knowledge” gives us, results related to team collaboration such as:
” acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles, as from study or investigation; general erudition: knowledge of many things.”
“acquaintance or familiarity gained by sight, experience, or report: a knowledge of human nature.”
“the fact or state of knowing; the perception of fact or truth; clear and certain mental apprehension.”
“something that is or may be known; information: He sought knowledge of her activities.”[2]
The knowledge of a person is expanding each day. We enrol into learning more facts, truths, beliefs and put them into use when we work on assignments. In regards to the current assignment of an unbuilt architecture, the use of Unreal Editor is a must, so the video tutorials from the game are expressing their knowledge of how to use the editor for us to absorb and express back into our assignment.
Knowing how to do something but cannot explain how to do it does not mean you don’t know how to do it. This is a summary of what i understand from reading a small article from this website, http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_development/Philos/WhatIsKnowledge.htm.
